Football club scouts new players via game

English football club Everton has signed an exclusive contract to use Football Manager 2009 as their scouting tool for new players. This is the first time such a deal is made.

The vast database of the Football Manager-series is a leading entity in the genre since long. In the past, several talents emerged in 'FM' long before they became known in the real world.
Premier-league playing club Everton is the very first to profesionally utilize FM for scouting purposes. The club from Liverpool is now able to look at 370.000 players and trainers from 20.000 clubs in more then 50 countries.

The choice of Football Manager in stead of the usual scouting networks makes more sense than would appear at first. More than a thousand people have contributed to the immense database of FM, a far greater number than any scouting network in the world.
These researchers add factual information about players, like date of birth, length, weight, and languages the players master.

The database is special in another way as well. All players stored, are given a rating on several skills. This allows for a quick judgement of the player's strong and weak points. A potential rating is also added so users can get an indication what the chances are of a just discovered talent to become a world famous footballer.
This is how Football Manager accomplished to correctly predict the breakthrough of players like Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Javier Saviola long before they became known internationally.

KaoS is organising it's first event. Primary target at getting some local audience from highschools and the local target group.

A radio interview has been completed with the local radio station plus we will be getting an elongated article about our gamecenter.

What are the activities at the event?
- Play versus the World Cyber Games finalists, FIFA08, Guitar Hero III, Virtua Fighter 5, you name it;

- Ever wanted to try the new game Rockband? Thanks to our sponsor 12game.com we have the only rockband kit in existance in Holland (well it's imported anyway);

- Play on 4 Philips.amBX kits if you ever wanted to try them out;

- Play on any of the 4 XBOX360's supplied by the dutch E-Sport Bond (union) or on the one and only Nintendo Wii

World Cyber Games Grand Final

It is only a few days now before the World Cyber Games Finals in Cologne start. It will start on the 5th of November and end on the 9th of November. KaoS will be attending with a few players in different games, all playing for Team Netherland!

All these players have qualified theirselves to the Grand Final with winning the National Final during the Firstlook Event that was some months ago. One player had the National Final a bit earlier, directly after the Qualifiers.

This weekend two of our teams will be attending the LANparty named The Reality VII in Drachten, The Netherlands. These teams will be our Counterstrike: Source and Call of Duty 4 (trial) team!

Just before the summer the old teamcaptain Arjan "teNt" Tent decided to quit gaming, his replacement was his brother, Rolf "Treyz" Tent. With this the team needed one more player to complete the lineup. The one who replaced one of the strongest players in the team is Marnix "leipoesje" Klapwijk who used to play for the Counterstrike 1.6 team but seemed to be a small natural in Counterstrike: Source. We hope to see some good result from the team!

This is not the original lineup for the team as they are playing with two 'mixers', kajsk1ng and kadoek. We all know kajsk1ng from our old Call of Duty 4 team a few months back. This team is still in a trialperiod for KaoS, how will they play at LAN with this team? We'll find out soon!

The World Cyber Games finals are coming up pretty fast now. A few hours ago it was time to draw the groups for each game. I can imagine it took some hell of a time as it are not that few games and even more players. I will post all the games and groups where Dutch Players are in involved! And to kick it of is with our own players for FIFA08 and Guitar Hero 3. And as it will be a hell of a job to fill in ALL players and ALL groups and so, I will only post the group where the Dutch players are in!

Yesterday the World Cyber Games National Finals for The Netherlands during the Firstlook Event was hosted in Amsterdam.

We had a total of three players present. Bartinho to represent FIFA08 and Boyke and JiBJQRKL to represent Guitar Hero 3.

All in all it was a successful day with two players qualified to the World Cyber Games Finals in Cologone. We want to congratulate those players and wish them success at the WCG Finals!
