Today Funcom announced which servers will be available during the Early Access program, which starts the 17th this month.

Since we already decided we were going to play on a Player-versus-Player server, the choice for the server was easily made. Because only two European PvP servers are available during the Early Access, Fury and Wildsoul.



Our choice for this server was greatly influenced by the fact that loads of people we know from the Shattered Hand EU realm in World of Warcraft, are moving towards Fury. We couldn't stay behind ofcourse!

That's about it for this short message I guess, just want to add that, if you are going to play Age of Conan, and you want to be part of our guild on Fury as well, you can apply on our forums.

And if you haven't ordered your copy of Age of Conan yet, which is very possible, you can do so in our very own gameshop!

FIFA2008
Our newest player in KaoS, KaoS.Bartinho will be attending a few events in the upcoming months.

Antwerp Esports Festival (AEF)
Date: 25,26,27 of July
Location: Antwerp - Belgium
There is a lot of prizemoney given away during the whole event, 4000 Euros of cash and 2000 Euros in hardware is put in the FIFA2008 event. KaoS.Bartinho received an invite for this event. Most of the top players in the FIFA scene will be attending this event but we know that Bartinho has a chance to get far.

The Experience(TEX)
Date: July the 31st – 2nd of August
Location: Roskilde – Denmark
There is a total of 3000 Euro that is put in the FIFA2008 tournament for this event. The same as with the AEF, the top of the FIFA scene will be playing here. Also for this event, Bartinho received an invite.

NK-Gaming Final
Date: 21st of June
Location: Utrecht– The Netherlands
This event has neither cash nor hardware prizes for the winners, but the title: 'National Champion of The Netherlands' is obtainable. Bartinho already qualified to the finals during the Offline Qualifications that were held during The Party 6 in Eindhoven a few weeks ago.

WCG2008 Dutch Qualifications
Date: Yet Unknown
Location: Yet Unknown
Bartinho will be participating in this event, but no information has released besides the Dutch Gamelist.

Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath
Our player for this game is KaoS.Technique and he has been with KaoS a little longer then Bartinho. He gained 2nd place at The Gathering in Norway where he showed that he is a good player. But ofcourse we know he can become even better.

NK Gaming Qualification
Date: 30th of May – 1st of June
Location: Online
Technique will be participating in the Online Qualifications of the NK Gaming. When he gains 1 of the first 4 spots, he will proceed to the Finals that will be held the 21st of June in Utrecht.

WCG2008 Dutch Qualifications
Date: Yet Unknown
Location: Yet Unknown
The registration will opened the 21st of May when also the rest of the information about location and date will become public. When it is possible to sign up, Technique will be one of the first and will be competing with other Dutch top players in the scene during the event!

As it was announced almost a week ago, the gamecenter survey shall be drawn to an end. It shall remain open for anyone to fill in but the prizes shall be claimed by a total of 4 happy people.

Aren't you late?
I am late, I announced the closing last weekend but thanks to work, queensday (dutchy holiday with alcoholic beverages, too much music, sun and a bit of rain, a hangover and legs that feel like they ran a marathon) and what not, I have been delayed in releasing the names.

On that note we have had another 50 to 60 people fill in the survey over the last few days and so I figured it wouldn't hurt to let them slide in.

When will it be announced?
Seeing as there was some confusing amongst people previously. I will announce the names of the people and what they have won live on our IRC channel @ quakenet (#kaos.legion). But that doesn't mean you lose out on your prize if you aren't there, it's just a form of live announcement.

You will be contacted via e-mail to inform us of your postage adres and we will send over the prize asap. If you however do not reply to our e-mail, or contact us based on the fact that your e-mail is linked on both main news page (that's here) or the forum. Then we'll eventually redraw the prize and give it to someone that has been able to respond.

So make sure you check the site coming sunday at around noon for the names. And if you can make it to IRC for the live prize drawing that be awesome too. And last but not least, if you haven't checked site or been around for the live draw then I advise you to check your mail for my address check request.

We have decided to split our shop possibilities in two. For instance, you can now order both your goodies, gear and other hardware from our hardwareshop or you can purchase games from any platforms via our gameshop.

Gameshop
Our gameshop is power by 12game which is a dutch games distributor. The good thing being that any game you buy via our website will support KaoS by giving us a few % off the top.

On that note 12game is a cheap, cost effective and very fast supplier of any old and new releases. 12game is however a dutch based gameshop and thus your items can only be shipped to the Netherlands or Belgium.

There is also some added value allowing you to check out game trailers, screenshots and reviews. Which might aid you in making a purchase.

In short the gameshop offers you:
- Quick Delivery from the 12game stock
- Ordering from within the KaoS website
- Supporting KaoS
- Getting any game for a truly good price

Changes to the menu
To help facilitate the above we have decide to change the "shop" button allowing you to chose whether you want to enter the gameshop or the hardware shop. You'll also need a separate account for the gameshop as all administration is run through the 12game database and not that of KaoS.

The lack of availability that was experienced in the last 24 hours have been caused by yours truly. By showing a new reseller client how to add domains and add settings I, for lack of a better domain, typed in kaos-eu.com as his domain.

Little dit I know this would change that server to the dominant IP over our real server. And so every ISP in the world started taking up our other server instead of the correct KaoS one.

And as such it sadly takes around 12-24 hours and for some bad ISPs 48 hours. To propagate new DNS (Dynamic Name Server). The issue should all in all clear itself up over time as more and more DNServers refresh themselves.

Gamecenter
Proximo and I layed the first 3 rows of bricks on Saturday the 26th of April. Pictures of the (not so) massive wall shall be online at a later date.

Nonetheless the gamecenter has hereby finally kicked off! Keep your eyes peeled on the site as we will publicly be announcing the needed assistance. As this is quite a community project all in KaoS are allowed to help out. We will spread the tasks to make it as efficient as possible.

We'll also only be working in weekends as many of us have jobs, school and university obligations.

Survey
The Gamecenter survey will be concluded within 7 days time. I will post the actual date and time within the next 24-48 hours. The prize drawing will be held on our IRC.

After The Party VI Arjan “teNt” Tent has decided to stop playing CS:S and will continue in Trackmania: Nations Forever. With this decision made, we came to an agreement that tent will continue playing under the KaoS tag in his new game.

My time has come, i do not want to have restricted times to train anymore. I will keep playing CS:S from time to time for backupping the CS:S team or just some random mixing. We are searching people who can replace me in the team. I had a great time in the 4 years of competitive gaming in the CS:S scene but it is time to move on now! From now on I will be playing the game TMNF. I am going to the ESWC Qualifiers within a few years.

I will keep going to events where my old CS:S team will be playing too! I will not go alone into the TMNF scene, but with my good friend Niels "Nelisz" Maat who already has more experience in the game.

I would like to thank my (old) css team. Especially N#GA, I’m already in a team with him for like 4 years now. It was really fun with you and ofcourse we will play some mixes and 2on2's ^^. And thanks to all other CS:S members with whom I really had a great time with.

We had heard from Jeffrey “Technique” Daniels earlier as he was on the event named The Gathering 2008 in Norway where he gained the 2nd place and won some prizemoney.

We know that Technique has the skills and motivation to get further, and that is where we want to support him.

The events that KaoS.Technique is going to attend:
- NK-Gaming, The signups for the Online qualification are going to open up soon and will be held at the 30st of May. The finals will be held the 21st of July.
- WCG 2008 NL Qualifications, The signups will open at the 21st of May. The World finals will be held the 5th till the 9th of November in Keulen/Germany.

We wish Technique good luck with these events and hope he gets far. We know he has the skill and potention and we sure know he will show that![/clip]

Our latest addition to KaoS is Bart “Bartinho” Nooyens. He is a very skilled Fifa 2008 player and will be competing with other players under the KaoS name.

He is going to a few of the biggest events that are coming pretty soon.
- NK-Gaming, He already qualified for at The Party VI by gaining a first spot at the offline qualifications for this event. The finals of this event are the 21st of June.
- Antwerp E-sports Festival, Which will be held 25th ,26st and the 27th of July in Belgium.
- The Experience, which will be held the 31st of July, 1st and 2nd of August in Denmark.

Wednesday might become a matchday as well but will show some different times.

I'm saddened to see that some of us lacked the motivation to continue playing ET:QW. I personally would have wanted to continue even longer. Some of us are going to play Warsow/UT3/Quake:Live, some are going to take a break from gaming, but I'm still unsure what to do next. I was thinking of buying Age of Conan and then maybe applying for KaoS.AoC.

I'd like to thank eXtreme and Smuggy for being excellent and the most helpfull managers to us. Also special thanks to Noorgrin who helped us in the recent times. I'm sorry that we couldn't keep our promises of a stable ET:QW team, I hope you have a great time in VAE (Vicious and Evil).

Network problems

After some reports yesterday it seems that our servers, amongst others, aren't showing the correct amount of uptime as we want them to be showing.

So far we have looked at all possibilities. And with certainty I can say that it isn't our servers. As problems have been reported on all servers with different Linux and Windows operating systems. None of which show any activity in any process that suggests something is wrong.

On that note, even our server park space provider shows the same symptoms on their website so it's definately something above us.

That said I can say with certainty that the signs are only noticable from some ISP. For instance in the Netherlands it is Verstatel/Tele2 that shows most signs of downtime. Yet at my house everything works perfect (Planet/KPN).

All together it would seem that somewhere there is a junction/backbone that is misperforming. Or maybe the hop structure of some ISP's is proving problematic.

I hope that the timeouts are fixed as fast as possible but sadly all I can do is wait for it to be fixed myself. ]]>
